Experiments, surveys, and one-page games. Most of these are five-minute ideas that wouldn't survive a meeting but are fun to make on a Sunday.

How community actually works

A visualization

Common misconceptions about Christian community.

And what it actually is — once you strip the misconceptions away.

Misconception · one

It's for the good enough.

Below is shame and feeling behind. Above is pride and complacency.

Misconception · two

It's for religion.

I am above the line because I do the tasks.

Misconception · three

It's for individual growth.

Close! We do grow, but that's not the only thing we do.

Misconception · four

A holy huddle.

Close! We do rest, but we don't sleep. Sleeping means we find our people, settle in, get cozy, and miss the opportunity to move.

Reality

A tapestry.

We all connect to Him. Then we weave a web that's stronger than the sum of its parts. We send each other out to other tapestries. We move towards and welcome in the stranger. We get our energy from the sun.

Pull back

The church.

Every community connects to Him. We are the body by which the Lord accomplishes His mission on earth. That's what we're doing here.
